Bots vs Browsers - database of 185,583 user agents and growing

2007.1.12 - Happy 1st Birthday!
Bots vs Browsers turns 1 year old today!
Anyways, now that 2007 is here, we have 15 new bots to show off. Here are the most interesting in the bunch:
-
Encourage/6.16 (Win95)
made it's debut in our logs, and is interested in content rendered down to the Win95 level.
Wow - can you believe Windows 95 is 12 years old now?

-
SitemapsPal.com Sitemaps Spider
crawled our sites - ok, ok - we ran this bot against our own sites to generate sitemaps for Google.
If you are a webmaster and have not looked into Google sitemaps yet (or Yahoo! sitemaps for that matter), you need to get on the ball and try them out.

-
LapozzBot/1.4
is a foreign bot whose user agent URL could not be translated by Google Translate, so we know nothing more about this bot except it has a funny sounding name.

-
Another new bot that we have not seen until this year is
MetaGer_PreChecker0.1.
We can't find any information on this bot either - nobody seems to know what it's doing.
Click on this user agent to see IP's and dates for when we have seen this bot, and maybe somebody can figure out what it is.

-
The odd looking
Omri David.
Omri and David are both names used in the Old Testament of the Bible, and apparently they are in the bot business these days.

-
BeckyBot/2.0
visited in her spare time this week as well.
There is a .com site named after her, but it looks like it has nothing to do with bots and more to do with apparel made of duct tape.

Now halfway into January, we have 54,058 user agents and 746 bots
